Daily Prayer – Pray ACTS
“Let me experience your faithful love in the morning, for I trust in you.
Reveal to me the way I should go because I appeal to you.”
God, we praise You, that You are a jealous God.
You are jealous when we give to created things that which belongs to You, the Creator.
For it is You who deserve our glory and praise because it is You who has made us, and everything comes from You.
We thank You that You are jealous when we do not give You the honour You are due,
when we worship other gods or bow down in our hearts to idols because it shows how passionately You care for us and how You want what is best for us.
You know how dangerous it is for us to not be part of Your family because towards those outside of this, You are a consuming fire.
So, we praise You that having set Your love upon us and chosen us,
in Christ, you are not just our Maker but our Saviour,
and in Your jealousy will not let us be completely led away from You, though we do at times find ourselves straying.
It is to our shame our Lord, that before we were justified by Christ and sanctified by Your Spirit, we were foolish, disobedient, deceived, slaves to various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, and hated by and hating others.
But to our continued shame we admit that though a great change has happened in our lives, it not a full and complete change, as these are sins we still are tempted by, and struggle with.
We thank You for the kindness You have already shown to us,
a kindness that is meant to lead us to repentance,
so, we repent now of the sins we continue to commit,
and ask You to hear us, and forgive us, and teach us the good way in which we should walk.
Thank you, merciful God, that a day is coming when this present age will be over, and our present struggle to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives will be over.
As we wait for Jesus to appear, grant to us the grace we need, and the power of the Holy Spirit to be self-controlled.
To keep on resisting the temptation to sin, even when it feels like we’ve reached our limits.
Give us the strength we need to keep saying “No” to our sinful desires and to grow in our heart a godly self-restraint, so that our impulsive reactions to situations and events are how you would want them to be.
Lord, save, bless, shepherd, and carry us forever.
Provide for all our physical and spiritual needs.
Give today, the daily bread we need: the gifts, time, resources, energy, and health we need to live for Your glory.
Protect us from the evil one and from giving into the temptation to sin.
