Daily Prayer – Pray ACTS
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
“Let me experience your faithful love in the morning, for I trust in you.
Reveal to me the way I should go because I appeal to you.”
Great and awesome God,
You fill the heavens and the earth.
We cannot hide from You.
If we were to ascend to heaven, You would be there.
If we were to descend to the depths of the earth, You are there.
We cannot flee from Your presence.
Our hearts are filled with wonder that You are a God who is present in all places and at all times.
And yet though this should fill us with dread because You see all that we do,
our sin and what brings us shame,
we are filled with wonder that, incredibly, because of Jesus’ death You can come even closer to us and dwell in our hearts by Your Spirit.
Lord, it is so comforting to know that we are not alone for You have promised to be with us always to the very end of the age and to never leave us nor forsake us.
We thank You that we do not have to hide our sins from You, our Father, but can confess them freely to You knowing that will forgive our guilt,
because You have promised that if we confess our sins, you are faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Help us to not deceive ourselves by thinking we have no sin that needs to be acknowledged before You.
Expose what is in our hearts and minds that causes offense to Your Holy Name, so that we bring them out into open and receive forgiveness from You.
We come to You Lord Jesus now, to find rest from the burden of sin that makes us weary and weighs us down.
Lord, You have told us how You want to be worshipped.
We are not to make an idol or use any image to worship You because nothing in creation can adequately represent You.
We are to worship You in spirit and truth and so help us to do that we pray.
Help us by Your Spirit to see the truth about Jesus made known to us in Your Word and to respond rightly with praise, confession, thanksgiving, trust, and obedience.
Give us a contentment with hearing Your Word read and preach, seeing Your Word in baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and praying and singing Your Word in response, because these are the ordinary means of grace which You have given to us to worship You.
Fill us as a local church with Your Spirit, Lord God, that we may grow and mature in our dependence and obedience upon You, and display His fruit in our lives.
We pray this so that each of us would make progress in the faith,
have a better understanding of Scripture,
be strengthened in our service and witness for You by speaking to others about the salvation we enjoy,
resist the schemes of the devil,
and be drawn to love Christ more and more.
Help our pastors and elders to not be contentious or eager for a fight.
May they always seek to make peace with others and be quick to apologise to those they have offended and quick to overlook offences committed against them.
Would they eagerly and joyfully cooperate with others rather than being quarrelsome or competitive, and not be easily drawn into arguements or into playing devil’s advocate.
Lord, save, bless, shepherd, and carry us forever.
Provide for all our physical and spiritual needs.
Give today, the daily bread we need: the gifts, time, resources, energy, and health we need to live for Your glory.
Protect us from the evil one and from giving into the temptation to sin.
