Maker of all things and Judge of us all,
have mercy upon our sinful condition.
With the Apostle Paul, we find that we desire to do what is right,
yet we do wrong anyway.
O Lord, deliver us from the evil One and his temptations,
from the lust and desires of the flesh,
from affections which are alienated from your purposes.
We lament the far-reaching effects of our sin and cry to you for help.
Grant, by your Holy Spirit, that we would become daily more like our Savour Jesus, whose food was to do the will of his Father in heaven.
