When it comes to standing up to Arianism (which teaches that God the Son was created by God the Father), Athanasius rightly gets a lot of coverage.
But could it be that Santa deserves some credit too. Not the Santa of today, but the original Santa, St Nicholas.
Tradition says that St Nicholas was present at the Council of Nicea and got into a heated debate with Arius himself about whether there was a time when the Word did not exist.
The debate ended suddenly when Nicholas punched Arius then and there on the floor of the council!
That’s one way of dealing with false teaching.
