Sin?
We’re told in Psalm 119:11 that the Bible protects us from sin. The Psalmist writes… “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you”.
We see this to be true at the start of Luke 4. We’re told that after Jesus was baptised he was led by the Spirit into the wilderness where for forty days He was tempted by Satan (or the devil).
Satan used every trick in the book to try to get Jesus to sin. But every time Jesus was tempted to sin, Jesus recalled what the Bible (which at this stage was just the Old Testament) said.
Three times we read that Jesus says “It is written…” and he quotes from Deuteronomy.
One of the reasons why God has given us the Bible is to protect us from sin. Jesus used it to protect Himself from sin and we need to use too. Knowing what the Bible says will help know what the right thing to do in lots of different situations is.
This is why it’s important that we read it, learn it and listen to it whether it is from our parents or in Sunday school or in main church service.
God has given us the Bible to protect us from sin.
