Harvest – I Can Sing a Rainbow
Powerpoint Pictures: Picture of a rainbow, double rainbow, triple rainbow
When sun shines through water, what do you get?
Have you ever seen a double rainbow? What about a triple rainbow?
Can anyone tell me how many colours in the rainbow?
You may have heard a song to help you learn what those colours are. It goes like this: “Red and yellow and pink and green, orange and purple and blue. I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow too.”
Does anyone know the problem with this song? It is wrong. Pink and purple are not colours of the rainbow.
What are the colours of the rainbow? [Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet]
I want to tell you about the first rainbow there ever was.
The Bible tells us that after God flooded the earth, saving only Noah and his family, and 2 of every kind of animal, He made a wonderful promise.
God said: “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” (Genesis 8:22)
While the earth exists there will always be these things.
As a sign that He made this promise, God told Noah that He would put a rainbow in the sky as a reminder of this promise.
Rainbows have a really special job.
They may come about as the sun shines through water, but they are God’s way of reminding us that He has kept His promise that seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease, and that He will not flood the whole earth again.
So every time you see a rainbow, thank God that He is keeping His promise, and because He has we can celebrate harvest every year.
