Powerpoint Pictures: Sign post giving directions; Road Name Sign; Warning Sign; Open Sign; For Sale Sign; Company Sign; Toilet Door Sign
What do the following signs point to? [Points to where different places are; points to where you are; points to a danger; points to whether you can enter; points to whether something is for sale; points to what the company does; points to who it is for]
Lots of different signs – what they all have in common is that they point to something.
Some time after Jesus was tempted by the devil, He went to a wedding with His family and friends. But disaster struck as they ran out of wine.
Jesus’ mother Mary told Jesus about this, and then told the servants at the wedding to do whatever He said. Jesus told the servants to fill up six jars with water. He then said, put some of the water into a cup and give it to the master of the banquet.
What would you expect to be in the cup?
Water – but it was wine – the best wine the people had ever tasted! Water had been turned into wine.
But why did Jesus do this?
“This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana in Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.” (John 2:11)
This miracle was a sign pointing to something. He was showing His followers who He was – that He was no ordinary man but God Himself.
And this wasn’t the only way we will see Him do this. He would show people who He is in lots of different ways.
