Harvest – Thanking God for 3 Meals a Day
Powerpoint Pictures: Plate with food you eat for breakfast; Plate with food you eat for lunch; Plate with food you eat for dinner; Plate with bread, rice, beans and bugs
Think about what you like to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Look at the plates of food of things you might like to eat.
Do you like for breakfast… cereal, toast, fry up?
Do you like for lunch… sandwiches, fruit, cucumber, tomatoes, crisps?
Do you like for dinner… roast dinner, spaghetti bolognaise, fish and chips?
Now thinking about what we eat, all the different things, we have much to thank God for because the Bible says that God is responsible for growing all the food.
“He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate – bringing forth food from the earth.” (Psalm 104:14)
Harvest is a time to thank God for the food we enjoy each day and all the variety of food that we get to eat..
As well as thanking God, harvest is also a time to remember something else, and that’s what this final plate reminds us of.
Around the world there are people who don’t have 3 meals a day – they have 1 or maybe none.
And they don’t have a choice about what to eat – look at what’s on their plate – rice, beans, breads or bugs.
There are lots of people who don’t have as much as us, and harvest is a chance to do good to those in need as well as thanking God for what we have.
